The Process behind GIRO Letterhead

Vintage archive · Drew

Preserved from the old Uncharted Design blog for nostalgia. This is old web-business advice, not current guidance.

These three designs are three quite different concepts. Conventional, Modern, and Elegant might be words to describe them. Maybe not, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Either way the client chose to go with the second option. The next step in the design funnel is drawing up three more options from the chosen style. For this we decided to create both thin and thick lines, as well as different methods of fading. As we were getting closer to the desired product, we took a designers gut feeling and also made these into a blue color scheme to see what the guys at GIRO preferred. Interestingly they liked the blue better than the previous red, and further down the rabbit hole we went.

Final Decisions

From here we toyed around with a couple more small details like margins and date placement, but ultimately GIRO Entertainment went with the thick blue line fading to transparency. All parties were happy with this result and now their letterhead is a fine addition to their marketing ammuniton.

Post-Process

Once we are done with a product, we don’t just set it off in the world and never check back. We love to hear from clients on how their products are performing. Many times we hear about the evolution of the company itself and it amazes us to watch the progression of industry leaders products take form along with the growth of their brand. If you have dealt with Identity designers in the past and would like to share your experiences or give advice, feel free to do so. You may even be a designer youself and disagree with our methods or ideas. Either way, leave a comment in an attempt to expand this thing we call knowledge.
